Just in: National Assembly adds a week to resumption date


The lawmakers of the National Assembly that comprises Nigerian Senate and House of Representatives has made known that it has added a week to the annual recess. The lawmakers who were to resume on September 19, 2017 will now resume a week later.

This statement was passed to the media through the clerk of the National Assembly, Mr Mohammed Sani-Omolori, on Wednesday, 13th September, 2017, and the statement was titled "Postponement of Resumption".

It read thus, “This is to inform all distinguished senators and honourable members of the National Assembly, of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, that the resumption date of both Houses in plenary has been rescheduled from Tuesday 19th September 2017 to Tuesday 26th September 2017.

“All distinguished senators and honourable members are by this notice requested to resume sitting in plenary on Tuesday, 26th September, 2017 at 10am prompt, please”.

The major reason for this postponement is yet to be known as at the time of filing this report.
