Yahoo: Four boys arrested in Edo State by Police for Internet fraud, handed over to EFCC

Edo State Police Command has arrested four suspected Internet fraudsters called Yahoo boys, and they were subsequently handed over to the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC.

As the menace of internet fraudulence increases by day, security agencies have been looking for the best way to put an end to it, but it seems it could be a mission impossible, because young boys are being recruited into the crime willingly, since it is believed to be their last resort of making money quickly, to the extent that some even go fetish into it.

The suspects, Shiko Romeo, Bobby Edigiu, Henry Nisike and Emmanuel Ayo were arrested by officers of the Nigeria Police, alleged of being involved in internet fraud.

Upon handing the suspects over to the EFCC, operatives of the Commission commenced investigations including analysis of documents retrieved from the laptop computer recovered from them.

According to the EFCC, the suspects were said to have opened up using fake identification on Facebook in their attempt to defraud unsuspecting victims especially European and American citizens.

According to EFCC, Romeo, who claims to be a student of National Open University, NOUN,  confessed that he scammed the duo of K. Zamaripas and Susan various sums of money in a romantic relationship  using the name John Culfer who lives in New Jersey, USA.

The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
