Influential Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary General dies at 80

Highly influential Kofi Annan, the former United Nations (UN) Secretary General has died at age 80. This was made known on Twitter by his family and the Kofi Annan Foundation.

The deceased popular and influential reign as secretary general of the United Nations was marred by White House anger at his opposition to the American invasion of Iraq.

Kofi Annan who was a Ghanaian also shared the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize with the international body he led from 1997 to 2006.

It is with immense sadness that the Annan family and the Kofi Annan Foundation announce that Kofi Annan, former Secretary General of the United Nations and Nobel Peace Laureate, passed away peacefully on Saturday 18th August after a short illness…
